In her work Anne Imhof combines painting, installation, choreography, and music. She draws inspiration from art history and underground culture while addressing the dynamics of power. With various media, Imhof examines concepts of physicality, collectivity, loneliness, desire, greed, fear, guilt and penance. She was awarded with the Golden Lion of the 2017 Venice Biennale for her exhibition Faust, presented in the German pavilion. Recent solo exhibitions were held at Tate Modern (2019), Castello di Rivoli (2021) and Palais de Tokyo (2021).
