The Centraal Museum in Utrecht is organising contemporary art exhibitions in Oud-Amelisweerd, a country house on the outskirts of the city of Utrecht. From 2022 two exhibitions of renowned Dutch artists will be presented on the first floor of Landhuis Oud-Amelisweerd each year.

Marijke van Warmerdam’s solo exhibition Then, now, and then focusses on a period when the artist resided in Rome where she produced a series of short films in which the past, present and future of the city converge. In her short films, van Warmerdam takes the visitors on a journey through time throughout the streets of Rome as she traces how the dynamic pathos of the Baroque era remains tangible in Roman life today. The sounds of the city also play an important role, forming the soundtrack to this installation and linking together the films shown in the different rooms of the historical country house.

This programme is a partner project of Hartwig Art Foundation.
